Nordic walking

What has this to do with yoga?  Not much but it is a good way to keep fit as the poles help to provide for an upper body work out as well as one for the legs.  There are two groups established with the aid of CDC and the Sports Council (now Sport England) one based in the Banbury  (2 – 2.5hr walks) that meets on a Monday morning and one in Kidlington (1.5 – 2 hour walks) that meets on a Tuesday morning.

I thought this all looked a bit naff (walking with poles), but am now a firm convert and use the poles when mountain walking in Scotland in preference to the heavier Leki sticks.

This is a social forum as well as a fitness one, with plenty of time to chat as well as enyoying varied walks through the pretty local countryside usually ending with a suitable venue for coffee or lunch.  A good range of walks (over 40) have and continue to be developed to sample the splendid local countryside.

We have a Xmas lunch together, have had a curry evening at the Spice Room in Bodicote, and a guided Ghost Walk is took place in Oxford.

There are regular basic training courses – see post for details.  CDC has been assisting with the running of training courses for this activity – contact Ann Tustian for details – 01295-258104
